Slavic people associated the Birch with the legend of the Rusalki, nymphs of ponds and lakes believed to threaten passers-by; for Siberian populations it was the tree of life; during the Middle Ages, in Europe it was called the “kidney” tree after discovering that its water could break up the stones. Today its extract is obtained from the leaves.
Birch extract has mainly depurative and diuretic properties thanks to flavonoids, sesquiterpene oxides, tannins, Vitamin C, betulinic, chlorogenic e caffeic acids, resins and essential oils. This is why it is one of the best remedies against cellulite, easing the elimination and the disappearance of fibro-connective nodules, which are typical of this skin imperfection.
