Mallow, Malva Sylvestris, belongs to the Malvaceae family and it is probably originated from North Africa: its name derives from the Latin word “mollire” i.e. “able to soften”. Its simple, attractive flowers have a gorgeous violet colour and the petals are used also in cooking.
Thanks to its high content of mucilage, Mallow extract has soothing and protective properties; moreover, flowers and leaves contain tannins, flavonoids and vitamin C, all protective antioxidants that contribute to strengthen the immune system.
