Description

Menthol is extracted from Peppermint essential oil. In the collective imagination, it is associated to a sensation of freshness: in fact, the cold sensation we feel while chewing gum is activated in the brain by a molecule, TRPM8, a protein that allows calcium ions to flow to the nervous cells that send this impulse.

Features

In the cosmetic field, Menthol is used for its vasoconstrictive action on the peripheral circulation: in fact, through this mechanism, it generates a turgid effect in the treated areas.
